Last Day of School

The end of the school year is always a whirlwind. I'm grateful that Annie's teacher Mrs. Vartola did such a great job of sharing pictures from school, so we have a pretty good record of her last few weeks of 1st grade.
Annie and her best bud Ellie both picked Penguins for their animal presentations.

Annie got the "Ravenous Reader" award!

Field day t-shirt gang

I volunteered at the "Movement Day," which is like a 2nd field day but indoors because it is stinking hot outside. The field day is short and mostly water oriented. Anyway, I was in charge of the scooter and sack race station, which involved corralling large groups of children who kept getting wicked rug burns. After a little bit, someone gave me my own pile of band aids to apply.
Note that Annie took the "wear your favorite color" spirit day more seriously than most of her classmates. This girl was PINK.

Isaac's preschool graduation was adorable. They sang us their phonics songs wearing their little graduation caps and shared a slideshow with pictures of the year.

I can't even handle this cuteness

He was so happy! Isaac really liked preschool.

We had a rocking after party complete with sprinklers under the trampoline at the Beus house afterwards.

Annie is always willing to oblige me with a little photoshoot.

Heading to the bus stop for the last time in a while!

Elliot is less enthusiastic about photoshoots.

He refused to hold a sign, but did grace me with this beautiful pose that really captures all the knowledge he has acquired as a 4th grade graduate.

Here's Elliot's end of school backpack dump. It was insane how many origami things and random toys he had accrued in his desk/backpack.

This was my favorite finding from the backpack dump.

A bunch of families from the ward got together for a last day of school water fight at the park! We brought our water pump (which we refilled from the pool a few times) and cups. There were water balloons and guns and general soggy frivolity abounding. It was a great kickoff to summer break!
