Before we left the Baggs's house, Robb took their RV to a tire shop to check the alignment, but they weren't super helpful. We rolled out on Tuesday morning with a solemn promise that we would stop at a Buc-ee's while in Texas.
There certainly was a lot going on, and the bathrooms were the cleanest I've ever seen.
Way to go, Buc-ees. Aaron said it was the most urinals he has ever seen.
Not long after, we were met with this sight. The Hays had to pull over with another sidewall blowout, and the inner tire blew out too this time. Robb's theory is that the RV was sitting all winter with low tire pressure, which put strain on the tires.
We had a good hangout session while waiting for roadside assistance. Soon we got bored of hanging out in the car and started to explore the hill on the side of the highway.
It was surprisingly beautiful!
There's a lesson to be learned in how the kids were so good at rolling with the punches and finding joy in being stuck on the side of the highway for several hours. It was legitimately a good time.
While skipping over this drainage chute we found...
A crawfish!
Finally, we got back on the road. We had early morning tickets for Carlsbad Caverns the following day so drove until pretty late at night with the kids getting some sleep in the car. The beauty of the RV plan is that a several hour delay didn't mess us up too badly. We didn't make it to the area we had planned to camp that night, but were able to find BLM land to park on that was close enough to make the rest of the drive the next morning.
