Many moons ago, I hatched a plan with my cousins living in Arizona to do a Rocky Point trip. When my parents and Max and Morgan found out that Breezy and I would be at the beach, they decided to join in. It ended up being a mini Alpine, in Mexico!
This picture was taken as we were leaving on Sunday morning, but it shows the whole group and the front patio! Back to the beginning: we rolled up on Thursday evening and had some delicious instant pot pasta for dinner.
View from the roof!
We put the hammock to good use
Such cool tiling in the shower! The house was awesome but not quite big enough for our group. Andy, Rachel, and Savannah volunteered to sleep on the roof. That was fine... except one night it rained and they had to come sleep on the living room floor, and another night a transformer on the power line across the street exploded with a sound like a gunshot which freaked them out. We ended up being without power from 3am to 11am. Savannah had been caught in Hawaii when the bad fires broke out there a month earlier, so she knew immediately about moving the freezer stuff to the more compact cooler and getting ocean water to flush the toilets. Luckily it didn't last too long!
Annie used her Grandma Blood birthday money to get the awesome extension braids again
A highlight for me was catching crabs with Max! We were snorkeling when we spotted a crab. We followed it around and starting messing with it. Finally Max got brave and grabbed it! We had it in a bucket on shore, and later I caught a smaller one. I decided to eat them for a full beach foraging experience.
Verdict: They were too small. I didn't have the crab shell cracker things, so it was super hard to get the meat out. I only got a few nibbles out.
We spent lots of time playing games! Max had this new one called Acronymania. We rolled 4 letter dice, then had to make an acronym using those letters and a prompt Max provided. The funniest was "Dumbledore Is Undeservedly Underground" from Dad in response to the prompt, "What do you send to the group text when a date is going poorly."
Breezy only made it to a bit of the beach. It was a bummer of a time to get a flare up, but we were happy to have her there for a bit!
We decided to take a ride on the banana boat! It was thrilling and a bit blinding with all the ocean spray in the face. We were all spitting salt afterwards. We all got dumped in the ocean at least once, including brave guy Elliot.
What's better than sunsets on the beach?
Answer: frolicking in the sunset on the beach with awesome braids.
Never say Annie lacks style
The next day, we headed to a good snorkeling beach that the Allens showed us last year. There was a HUGE school of tiny fish right in the shallows! You could sit right in the middle of them, and they didn't swim away! You can see Annie and me snorkeling in the background of this video. It was SO COOL. I got to teach Rachel and Annie how to snorkel this trip, which was fun. I love snorkeling. If only I had gills.
Pollo Lucas for dinner
Mimi did a super cool project where she helped everyone collect tons of shells and hot glued them into shadow boxes. They turned out so cool! The kids always love collecting shells with Mimi!
