Back to School

The Monday after we got back from our trip, the kids were off to school! Isaac was so excited for Kindergarten. He generally likes it, but has no patience for crafts. He will just pleasantly sit there and ignore all instructions to glue the whatever on the whatever unless a grown up is sitting right next to him. His teacher tried giving him an hourglass timer, but he was all too happy to stare at it. She tried putting a countdown timer on the smart board, but he was fascinated by numbers going backwards. We eventually had to set up a sticker chart system where he can earn 5 stickers every day by doing his work. He's getting there about half of the time now that we are a few months into school. He's a bright kid who constantly wants to count and add, and is reading above his level- he just has his head in the clouds a lot of the time.

What a cutie!

Annie was disappointed that most of her friends are in other classes this year. A lot of them have time between when the bus drops them off and class starts, and they use it to visit their teacher from last year and sharpen her pencils. They then walk Mrs. Vartola's daughter to her class, which happens to be Isaac's class, so Annie can say hi to him every morning.

Elliot was less enthusiastic about the photoshoot than his younger siblings. Elliot is doing great in school. He does all his work without us ever having to remind him and has more friends at school that we hear about.

The group picture- I believe that Elliot, who was absolutely coerced into being in the picture against his will, had just shoved Annie, who was trying hard to soldier on despite the injustice of life. Isaac remained happy and oblivious.

There was time for a quick picture with her best buddy Ellie before crossing to the bus stop

It melts my heart seeing Isaac's carrying his giant backpack and climbing those giant bus steps.
