We went on a last minute adventure to Saguaro National Park on Memorial Day with our pals the Hays! The weather cooperated and we were only mildly sweaty at the end. Most of these pictures are stolen from Lakin.
Getting ready for adventure
I was very impressed with the visitor's center
Desert Ash
This guy just has a lot going on
Saguaro buds
Saguaro flowers- they turn into edible fruit
Family picture in front of an aesthetically pleasing saguaro
My buddies
Overlook
Same pose as a couple weeks ago, drastically different backdrop.
Some cool petroglyphs
Colby did not look this happy after a few hours of hiking
After a lovely picnic lunch, we drove back and let let Elliot take a nap before meeting up with friends at the pool. Elliot did NOT approve of the water temperature- way too cold! I wish I had taken a picture. After that we had a potluck. I ate about a pound of onion dip. We brought cajun fries... and so did the Hays! I guess we were meant to be friends.
We drove up to visit Mary and Scott for the first time post-Elliot.
I was impressed by how gentle Mr. Wild Child Andrew was with Elliot
Ignore the blurriness and the nose picking
Rebekah told me "Sometimes when I wear this dress, people come up to me and kiss my forehead because I'm so beautiful." This girl does not lack confidence!
There are so many awesome parks in Gilbert!
He's still a little on the small side for the swings
TOES
And now for a video of Rebekah working it for the camera and Andrew just being sweet
This is what we found in the backseat when we got home from church this week:
Looks comfy! Yes, he did have a buckle imprint on his cheek when he woke up.
I took this picture when we went on a walk later that day. Agave is my favorite plant. When I first saw one with the stalk up, I thought it was some weirdly placed art tribute to Dr. Seuss and not a real plant. I love seeing them this time of year!
Props to Arizona for having cool plants that can be taller than houses
We got new phones that can take much improved pictures! Here's some that Aaron took.
Oh how I love that little smile.
"Come at me, bro!"
"Still not tired of my toes"
"I'm probably staring at the ceiling fan"
"I promise my hands aren't really the same size as my head"
And now for our current favorite Elliot Video! We may or may not watch this multiple times a day after we put him to sleep. You can tell that his face was getting tired from all the laughing, but he couldn't stop himself once he started going.
Here's what I've managed to take on my phone. Somehow Aaron has taken more good pictures than me even though I spend all day with the little guy.
Strange foot protrusion captured in artsy black & white
I got him to smile for the picture by letting him check himself out in the mirror.
I smile whenever I see that face too, buddy!
Yes, he is still tall and skinny. Also adorable, as evidenced below:
I love a good sweater vest, no matter what Aaron says
We decided to give Elliot a taste of applesauce. We'll start seriously trying out solids in a few weeks, this was just for fun. I love how he is so eager to try it then looks so betrayed when the flavor bomb goes off! We also tried banana, but I don't think it was mushed up enough. He didn't make as funny of a face, but he didn't swallow it either.
WHAT DID YOU JUST FEED ME?!?
I finally got a picture of his hair situation! He has this nice patch with a rubbed bald spot right above it. He has fuzz everywhere else.
We call it his back stache
We decided to start teaching him about programming.
Our little buddy helping make GardenBuddy
He was easily distracted
More toe munching. It is fun bringing him to Primary- all the kids in our class cheer him on and get all excited when he gets his toes in his mouth.
To wrap things up: Here's a video of Elliot spazzing out and munching on his toes while I read him a book.
